Sculpting Time: Creating A Schedule That Works For Your Home Based Business
Feb 23rd
Whether you are interested in making money from home as a full time job or as one in multiple streams of income, it is important to focus on time management. Home businesses are enticing because, lets face it everyone would love to cut their commute time from an hour to the two minutes it takes to walk into the next room. However, many home business owners fall into the trap of making every little distraction a priority over their businesses.
The key to creating a system of time management that works is to start by making a list of priorities. For many people, their families come at the top of the list obviously loved ones are important to life. Cut out time for kids, spouses, etc, but keep the time for your business blocked off. Just because you work out of your home doesnt mean that you are available to be at the beck and call of others. The fact is, a home office is still an OFFICE, so be sure to keep it a place where you can work with minimal distractions.
Next, figure out how much time you will need to dedicate to your business in order to make the profit you are looking for. A full time home based business will probably require you to put in several hours each day. However, if you are using your home based business as one of multiple streams of income, then decide how many hours you will need to put in, and where they will fit in between other your schedules for other sources of income. Make sure that you are dedicated to the number of hours you come up with. Both too many and too little hours allotted will throw off the livelihood of your business.
Finally, write out a schedule for yourself. Whether this schedule is daily or applies to the entire week is dependent entirely on your life. For example, if your kids have sports practices at different times each day, then your schedule may change from Monday to Friday. You may even choose to work on weekends. While flexibility is a big perk to working at home, remember that you must still put in the appropriate amount of time that your business needs in order to make a profit. Carve out the time you need for work each day, and make sure that time remains uninterrupted. Remember to schedule time for meals as well hardly anyone works well on an empty stomach!
How to Keep Predator Fish
Feb 23rd
Many people like to have fish for pets because they are low maintenance, and can be very relaxing to watch them swim. Most first time fish enthusiast like to keep cold water fish, because they are cheap and most of the different types of these fish will get along together. These fish have some bright colors and have some very fancy fins, but they are mostly large goldfish, and eventually switch to tropical fish to get a larger selection of fish. But keeping tropical fish can be a bit of a gamble, the fish cost more and some of them are very aggressive and will eat your other fish.
Reciprocal Link Exchange-Systematic Approach Produces Results And Success.
Feb 23rd
There is not the slightest doubt that Reciprocal Links have a major role to play in increasing your link popularity, securing a high page rank and bringing in traffic. Though Search Engines consider one way links superior to reciprocal links, the fact remains that we do need them. The biggest problem faced by new webmasters is that their request for reciprocal link exchange is often turned down by webmasters with high page rank websites because the new site often is PR0.
This often causes disillusionment and disappointment in the ranks of new webmasters who had spent many hours researching the internet and identifying the related high PR websites.
By following these steps systematically you will soon be on your way to achieving your objective and be happy enjoying your work.
Step 1. Complete Construction of Website:
First and foremost your website should be complete. Your website should have excellent content and be related to the theme of your website. The site should be optimized for your chosen keyword or keywords. Remember content is king. Search Engines love them, so too will your website visitors.
Step 2. Submit to Search Engines:
Submit your website to Google, Yahoo, MSN, AltaVista and to all the leading Search Engines. Do not submit under construction websites as they will never be indexed and could further delay future indexing.
Step 3. Submit to Directories:
Submit your website to Directories such as Open Directory, Yahoo, JoeAnt and to other leading directories. There are three types of directories. (a) Those that accept free listing without reciprocal linking. (b) Those that accept free listing but require reciprocal linking. (c) Those that have only paid listing. Some do have a combination of all these. Since submitting to the paid directories could be too costly to the newbie, the best option would be to start submitting to the free submission directories that have a high PR. This will make your site visible in the internet world, increase its overall importance and bring you several one way links and reciprocal links.
Step 4. Writing and submitting Articles to Article Directories:
While you are in the process of submitting your site to the directories you should commence writing articles on the theme of your website or related themes and submit them to article banks, article directories, and article distributors and to related high PR websites that accept articles. Your articles should be of good quality, helpful to the audience and display to the internet world your knowledge and expertise. If you dont have the ability to write articles the other option is to obtain the services of a ghost writer to write a few articles for you.
The purpose of writing these articles is to obtain one way links and also traffic to your website. Hence it is important that you have a resource box at the end of your articles with your website link embedded in them. Article writing is one of the best ways of obtaining one way links and you are bound to get dozens in quick time. The more number of relevant one way links you obtain, the greater will be your chances of improving your link popularity and climbing up the Page Rank ladder.
If in the meantime you get requests for Reciprocal Link exchange from good relevant sites you may accept them.
Step 5. Posting at Forums and Writing Testimonials:
Post your expert comments and advice at related discussion forums with your signature file and URL
Write testimonials about the products that you have used and request the webmaster or vendor publishing your testimonials to display your site URL when he publishes the testimonials. These can all bring you one way links to boost up your link popularity.
Step 6. Request for Reciprocal Links:
The above systematic approach will propel your website to PR2, PR3 or even PR4. You are now beginning to be recognized by the search engines, and also by other webmasters who have read your articles and forum posts.
The time is now ripe for you to request for reciprocal links seriously not only from sites of equal page rank but also from PR5 a PR6 websites as well.
Your reciprocal link exchange requests are now not going to fall on deaf ears and will receive serious consideration because: (a) You have a reasonable page rank. (b)You are beginning to be recognized as an expert in your field. (c) Your website is being identified as one that has good content and potential of achieving higher page rank.
Wise and experienced webmasters can identify such websites and will find it hard to reject your reciprocal link exchange request. In fact you will find quite a few webmasters who would like to be associated with you by either publishing your articles or accepting your reciprocal link request.
Conclusion:
The rejection, the consequent pain of mind and disappointment unfortunately kills the enthusiasm of some of the newbies. Though it might appear difficult initially but writing articles and posting in forums are much easier than obtaining a reciprocal link from high Page Rank webmasters.
By following the above method systematically, Link Exchange becomes a more enjoyable and rewarding experience. bringing in its wake heaps of Reciprocal Links, One way links, high Page Rank, increased Link Popularity and Targeted Traffic. What more do you want?
Why Choose A Professionally Written Resume?
Feb 23rd
Good question, considering that nowadays you can find many
useful resources to help you write your own resume
(including many located at http://www.impressive-resumes.com).
A professionally written resume might be just what you need.
On the other hand, perhaps you can easily write your own
resume using a resume template or commercially available
resume writing software. How do you decide which is right
for you?
Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to help you
decide.
* “Do I have the time to do the job right?”
If you want to create a resume that works, i.e. one that
captures the attention of a hiring manager during a 10
second initial “toss or keep” scan, you need to be willing
to invest some time. Depending on your comfort level, your
familiarity with resume design factors and how well you’re
organized, this can take anywhere from a couple of hours to
several days or more.
If you have the time, energy, focus and desire to learn how
to write an effective resume, you’re probably a good
candidate to do it yourself. If you’re really not ready to
devote the time and effort, you’d be better served by
allowing a professional resume writer to write it for you.
* “Can I afford the services of a professional resume writer?”
If you’re on a no kidding shoestring budget, writing your
own resume is probably the way to go. But most people are
surprised at how inexpensive and easy it is to hire a
professional resume writer who can write a truly effective
resume. Chances are good that there’s room in your budget
for a professionally written resume, especially considering
that the right career step could pay back your investment a
thousand times over (or more).
You’ve probably already spent tens of thousands of dollars
on your education, (not to mention incredible amounts of
sweat equity) to get where you are today. The small amount
of additional money you spend on a professionally written
resume may just be the best career advancement investment
you’ll ever make.
* “What makes a resume writer a “professional” writer?
There are several well known professional resume writing
organizations through which individuals can attain
professional resume writing credentials. These include the
National Resume Writers’ Association (NRWA) and the
Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career
Coaches (PARW/CC). Individuals who attain accreditation from
these organizations have demonstrated an in depth knowledge
of the resume writing process. The writers at
http://www.impressive-resumes.com are certified by one or more
such organizations.
* “What are some of the benefits of hiring a professional
resume writer to write my resume for me?”
There are many. You’ll likely save time and almost certainly
money in the long run. You’ll avoid making one or more of
the common resume writing mistakes that so many people make
when writing their own resumes. You’ll enjoy the peace of
mind that comes with knowing your resume was “done right”
from the beginning. You’ll be able to devote more time to
doing all the other things required of you when looking for
a new job. And you’ll have someone in your court who has
your best career interests at heart.
* “How do I work with a professional resume writer?”
Nowadays you no longer need to meet with a resume writer in
person or by telephone to conduct an interview. You can
order an online resume and complete your interview
conveniently on your own schedule. In fact, purchasing an
online resume that is written by a professional resume
writer is one of the nice things about the online world. The
whole process is built around YOU. You and the professional
resume writer working with you always have the option to
communicate by telephone or email if additional information
is required.

10 Reasons You Will Love Ordering Flowers Online
Feb 23rd
Flowers are expressions of thoughtfulness and love, congratulations and sympathy, and a heartfelt way of saying a simple, I care about you! Remembering and finding time to express these sentiments in todays global society can sometimes be challenging. If you moved away from your hometown but still want to send love to your mother on her birthday or just want to keep close with college roommates long after graduation, distance and convenience are major concerns. Fortunately, with new technology, you can stay close to almost anyone, anywhere by ordering flowers online.
Ordering flowers on the Internet has never been so easy and is fast becoming the most popular means of sending the perfect bouquet to friends or loved ones. People from every walk of life are enjoying the benefits of the personal computer, which is proving to be ultra fast, affordable, and surprisingly safe to use for consumers on the prowl for a really good deal. Whether youve ordered flowers online before or have just thought about it, here are some great reasons why buying flowers on the Web is not only a terrific idea but will also save you time and money!
1) You know what you are getting! Placing orders through a phone service has classically been luck of the draw. Whether sending flowers to a funeral or as congratulations for a special event, you could give a general idea of what you wanted by phone but had little control over the ultimate style or design. Online ordering allows you to easily pick and choose the style, color scheme, flower varieties, and price range you want! Just click on the pictures that appeal to you most. You can quickly compare options within one site or across multiple sites. This is a wonderful way to assure that your gift sends just the right message.
2) Shop anytime, anywhere! Cant find time to go shopping? You dont have to leave your home or office to send flowers. Let your fingers do the walking on your keyboard. You can shop in your pajamas if you want, anytime day or night. It doesnt matter that other stores are closed; your online florist is always open. Ordering flowers online is fast, and florists are, too. They specialize in same-day and next-day delivery. With many online florists, you can order flowers in the morning for delivery almost anywhere that same afternoon. Of course, at Christmas, Valentines, and Mothers Day, its best to avoid the rush by ordering a day or two in advance. Otherwise, same day or next day flower delivery is no problem.
3) Never forget an occasion again! Does your day get so entirely hectic that anniversaries, birthdays, and other important occasions simply slip your mind? Most online florists have a free reminder service, so you never have to worry about forgetting a special date ever again! The florist will automatically send you an email about each upcoming event to jog your memory. Theres no obligation, the information is private, and you can add or change dates anytime you want. Its like having your own private secretary.
4) Professionally designed flowers make a statement. There are services that ship cut flowers in a box along with a vase and instructions. Theyre often a bargain, but the recipient has to cut and arrange his or her own flowers. As an alternative, sending a finished arrangement ensures you get your point across without the recipient having work for the gift. In other words, while boxed flowers are a good thing, theyre not always the best choice. Much depends on the occasion and recipient. For deliveries to the workplace, a hospital, or a funeral home, arranged flowers are usually best. One thing is certain, it should be YOUR choice, and youll find both types of floral gifts when you shop online.
5) Online ordering is one stop shopping! Theres no need to drive from store to store or waste time standing in lines. You can find almost anything you need online. For example, many online florists offer a variety of products such as gift baskets, balloons, teddy bears, and chocolates. So, if you want to send flowers and a fruit basket or roses and balloons, you have that option without having to make separate purchases at different sites.
6) Transactions are safe and simple. Ordering flowers on the Internet is a breeze when it comes to safeguarding your privacy and security. All reputable online florists use secure order forms. Just look for https in your address bar when you get to the order form. It means the information you submit is encrypted for privacy. Youll find it only takes a few minutes to complete your order. All major credit cards are accepted. Plus, if you use a card with reward incentives, youll enjoy that added bonus with your purchase.
7) Youll find lots of helpful information at your fingertips. Unsure about the name of a particular flower? Dont be embarrassed; your online florist can help. Youll find product descriptions, flower pictures and names, wedding flower tips, meanings of flowers, care information, decorating ideas, and much more online. Whether youre a seasoned floral expert or gift-sending novice, online flower shops offer a wealth of free information and resources. You can browse at your leisure, search favorite flower topics, or just enjoy the pictures. Its like having a complete flower shop right on your PC.
Online florists provide their credentials. Examining rooms are decorated with diplomas, which let you see for yourself if the doctor has the credentials necessary to serve your needs. Most reputable Internet ordering sites do the same. Top florists online often have awards and feedback from customers posted conspicuously for your benefit. Look for established florists with industry credentials, customer testimonials, a service guarantee, and a toll-free customer service phone number. Then, youre sure to be on the right track.
9) Get the benefits of mid- to large-size companies and the personalization of small, local florists in one. Online florists have the systems, staffing, industry connections, and purchasing volume youd expect from large companies. Most guarantee satisfaction. So, you enjoy the service and prices you deserve. But, they also deliver through a vast network of select smaller florists across the country and around the globe. When choosing florist delivered flowers, your gift is professionally designed and personally delivered by these local flower shops. You get the quality and personal attention of a hometown florist, along with the service and support of a nationwide business, too.
10) Ordering flowers on the Internet makes gifting easy! Ordering flowers on the Internet is the most convenient way to send flowers to almost anyone. Most florists online will have categories based on the occasion, price range, or flower types with which to sort and view the various bouquets. You will love how easy it is to shop for flowers online and how convenient it can be ordering from your home or office.
Flowers and the thought behind them really mean a lot and truly touch people. The classic way to send a gift of flowers has traditionally been telephone ordering. Today, we have the convenience, quality, variety, and control of ordering flowers on the Internet, as well. Its made our lives easier and made our lives better. Because, after all, its not about flowers, its about sending a message and staying close with those we care about. Thats what flowers are all about. The Internet just makes sending flowers that much easier.
Used Stair Lift: What You Should Know Before Buying One
Feb 23rd
Should you buy a used stair lift in lieu of buying a new one? Thats a good question. And its one thatll depend upon your budget and whats available to fit your particular situation.
For starters, you want to take into consideration whether youll always need that stair lift or if youll temporarily need one and if so, for how long. Now ideally, if youre going to always need a stair lift, or will need one for many years, its probably best to purchase a brand new stair lift. The investment should be more than worth it.
Its also important to keep in mind, that if there are issues such as large height and weight to take into consideration, a new stair lift may be best.
Taking a look at used stair lifts, there are many ways to get one. You can simply do a search on www.google.com for used stair lifts. You can go to www.Ebay.com to search for them there too. Also, local newspaper classified ads and of course, actual companies that supply stair lifts are ideal to talk to.
If youve chosen to go the used stair lift route, you want to talk with a person thats knowledgable on the topic about what exactly you need. If you can find a dealer offering used stair lifts and get their advice in matching you with a stair lift for your appropriate situation, that might be ideal. In some cases, local dealers may not have used stair lifts available. In those situations, it would be a good idea to talk with dealers about what make and model they think you should get, and then go the route of picking a stair lift from your Google, Ebay or classified searches.
The most important thing of course to keep in mind is the condition and consequently the level of safety inherent in the used stair lift.
Discover The Secrets To Finding A Rental In Honolulu
Feb 23rd
Honolulu is broken into four areas: Downtown, Manoa, Waikiki, and Waimanalo/Kaneohe.
Before proceeding to search for a rental in Honolulu, you should pick the areas that most appeal to you. You must also come up with a reachable budget. When you rent, you still must pay for your food, utilities, and personal expenses.
It is important to know how much you can afford to pay in rent and still have money left for your other bills.
The majority of rental in Honolulu managers require a full-credit check, a security deposit, first and last month’s rent, personal and professional recommendations, and proof of employment.
You will be asked to sign a legally binding lease. Make sure you are clear on what utilities, if any, are included in the monthly rent. Water and heating are usually included. Electricity and phone bills are typically the renter’s responsibility.
In Downtown, rental rates can be quite low per month for an unfurnished studio that houses a living space and bathroom. Located on the western side of Oahu, Downtown Honolulu is close to shopping, dining, business, and the major airport.
For several thousand dollars per month, you can rent a three-bedroom plantation-style bungalow that is located across from the beach.
For this area of rental in Honolulu, the average price is high but that is indicative of the location. The renter here gets a three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage near the major shopping district.
Manoa is located on the southwestern edge of Oahu. Beaches in this area are pristine. A one-bedroom studio rental in Honolulu in the Manoa area starts is several hundred dollars per month.
A few thousand dollars a month will get the renter a two-bedroom apartment with ocean views. For a lower price the rental typically includes one-bedroom apartments that come fully furnished, minus the fabulous view.
Waikiki is located on the southern end of Oahu. This area is popular with surfers and beach lovers. A rental in Honolulu in the Waikiki area is also in the few thousand dollar range. Property in this area is extremely hard to come by.
If you are planning to obtain a rental in Honolulu in Waikiki, you must be extremely aggressive in pursuing any available property. An unfurnished one-bedroom apartment with one parking space is very desirable and therefore is in high demand.
Spending more per month will net you an unfurnished two-bedroom cottage in a gated community. Neither of these examples are waterfront. Waterfront property in Waikiki is extremely rare and very high priced.
Finally, when looking for a rental in Honolulu, Waimanalo/Kaneohe is another area to consider. On the eastern coast of Oahu, Waimanalo/Kaneohe properties are a popular choice. A three-bedroom, executive style home will rent for a few thousand dollars per month including utilities.
Leasing a rental in Honolulu can be a trying experience. Prices vary greatly, but if you go into your search with a firm budget in mind, you’ll do fine!
Watch it live, not on TV
Feb 23rd
There are many who resign to fate and settle down on their couch with a glass of beer to watch their home team Chicago Cubs fight against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They would not even want to take the chance of trying for tickets, knowing there is bound to be none available. When Arizona Diamondbacks played against San Diego Padres, the tickets were easily available across town, and it was fun watching the match from the stands. Cheering along, rooting for the teams, the adrelin kick and fun was jus amazing, and it would be wonderful if that was possible with every match.

How to Select Hiking Boots For Any Type of Excursion!
Feb 22nd
When you’re getting ready to buy a pair of hiking boots, there’s a lot to consider in order to make sure the shoe has the features you need to get you where you want to go safely and comfortably. Different styles of hiking boots are necessary depending on the type of excursions you’re planning.
First, What Are Your Options? Currently, the 3 basic styles of hiking boots are:
- Low Cut Hiking Shoes: Resembling a beefy sneaker, a low cut hiking shoe is great for many types of moderate hiking excursions. They can also be the perfect water hybrid shoe when made of quick drying materials and they’ll also provide descent traction.
- Mid Cut Hiking Shoes: This style of hiking shoe falls right about mid ankle, providing more support than low cut hiking shoes, but allow for more ankle movement than hiking boots. They can be safely worn for some backpacking and most hiking trips.
- Hiking Boots: Full height hiking boots are essential if you’re backpacking for any extended length of time or with a heavy load because of the support they provide for the ankle. A good quality hiking boot usually lasts a long time and provides excellent traction on most any terrain.
Now you know the basics about the different styles available, but, how do you know what style of hiking boot or shoe is right for you? Ask yourself the following questions about the ways in which you will typically use your hiking shoes, then, you’ll be able to choose the right style and qualities to create the perfect hiking footwear for your journey.
What Are You Planning to Carry?
If you’re planning to carry anything more than a day pack on the majority of your hikes, consider the weight of what you’ll have in your pack before choosing a pair of hiking boots or shoes.
If you have a really heavy load, say 40 – 50 lbs or more, ankle support is essential. Some hikers find ankle support essential no matter what amount of weight they carry, but others feel that you can still have a safe and comfortable hike in mid cut hiking shoes when you’re carrying around a 45 lb load or less. If you’re carrying less than 25 lbs, then you can also safely explore the available options in low cut hiking shoes.
Do You Want Your Hiking Shoes to be Waterproof or Quick Drying?
For many, the automatic response is “of course I want them to be waterproof”, but, if you get waterproof boots (usually made of Leather or Gore-Tex) wet above the ankle line, or the waterproof membrane becomes damaged your feet are usually soaked for awhile because these materials are heavy and take time to dry.
The alternative to a heavier waterproof hiking shoe or boot is a pair of hiking shoes made out of quick drying material. If you’re going to be faced with higher water (above the ankle) on a regular basis, your feet are going to be getting wet regardless, and a quick dry material may be of a greater advantage to you than a waterproof boot
However, if you’re just puddle hopping or crossing low level streams for the most part, the water proof boot or shoe will get wet much less often than a quick drying one; which will get wet no matter the height of the stream, the dew, the mud, etc.
What Type of Terrain Will You Be Hiking On?
Do you normally hike semi maintained trails in the town forest, or are you on a quest to climb all the 14ers in Colorado? The terrain is a very important aspect of picking the right hiking boot. You will obviously need more ankle support as the intensity of the terrain you’re hiking increases, but traction matters also.
If you encounter mud a lot in your area (or where you’re going) you’ll want to look for tread that is soft and releases mud easily. An awesome hiking shoe with not so awesome treads quickly becomes a lead brick when hiking through mud.
Also, if you end up hiking on terrain (like desert canyons or high mountain peaks) that is notoriously gravelly or filled with loose rocks, a step can easily become a slide and quality traction as well as ankle support is essential to help prevent this and keep your hike safe.
Within these main questions, you’ll also have to ask yourself what type of material you prefer for both the outside and inside of your boots, as well as color, and style. But, if you answer these basic questions before you purchase anything, you’ll be able to easily select the best hiking shoe or boot for your style of hiking. This way your hikes can be safe and enjoyable to both you and your feet!

Living the Dream With a Sports Car Rental
Feb 22nd
Have you always wanted to drive an exotic sports car for a few days? Maybe just pretend you are James Bond and rent an Aston Martin sports car. Maybe go really wild and get a Lotus or Lamborghini for a few days, or maybe even something not quite that exotic but definitely sporty for a special occasion like a new Corvette.
Like virtually anything else in the world today that has a demand, you can rent just about any kind of sports car that you want in many places. Typically these are in larger cities, and in cities like Orlando, Las Vegas, Chicago, or Los Angeles, you would have little trouble in choosing from amongst several agencies that can put you into a hot sports car for a few days so you can indulge yourself.
But before you get too excited, one of the first calls you will want to make is to your car insurance company that you use to insure your personal cars. Tell them what you are planning to do and find out if you have enough coverage to adequately protect you. You may be a very safe driver, but that other driver who is gawking at that sleek sports car you are behind the wheel of may gawk too much and hit you, and you definitely want to make sure you are covered.
Yes, you can almost always get insurance from the car rental agency, but there is a good reason that you will want to first check with your own car insurance company. That is because you may already be covered, and why pay twice for insurance? Also check your policy limits – if you are only covered up to $50k and you are driving a $200k vehicle, that is going to leave you severely lacking if something bad happens. If you get the insurance from the car rental company, chances are that you may be paying an additional $50 a day or more to have that insurance.
But once you have that detail out of the way, the sky is the limit. Maybe it is to impress that new person you are dating, or maybe it is to surprise your wife on that special occasion when you wheel into your driveway with this exotic sports car. You work hard and you are not getting any younger, so decide what you would like to do and give yourself permission to do a sports car rental. Find out what is available in your area and then have a great time.
For more insights and additional information about Sports Car Rental as well as finding where you can rental an exotic sports car and get special discounts, please visit our web site at http://www.sports-car-rental.com/.

Waiting for Take-Off
Feb 22nd
Its not too often that you read about a team needing a 43-year-old pitcher to have a legitimate shot at the playoffs, but Clemens is not a pitcher who comes along that often. At 42, he put together one of his more stunning seasons in his illustrious 22-year career by going 13-8 with a 1.87 ERA, striking out 185 batters and walking just 62 in 211.3 innings. While Chris Carpenter won the Cy Young for the National League, last season (Clemens finished third behind Carpenter and Dontrelle Willis), his 2005 was one of his three or four best seasons over the course of his career (better than his 2004, in which he did win the Cy Young Award). His 1.008 WHIP was the second-best in his career (bested only in 1986), his 1.87 ERA was the best in his career, and his 44 earned runs allowed was also the best in his career with a minimum of 100 innings pitched. And he was 42.
Clemens tired down the stretch. He labored his way through the playoffs, going 4-3 while helping guide the Astros to the World Series. It was clear that Clemens had worn down, and an injured Clemens posted a 13.50 ERA in his lone outing as the Astros were swept by the Chicago White Sox. Had Clemens not been injured and tired, the history books might remember the 2005 season a little differently.
Without Clemens, this season, Houston is winning games by mashing the ball, which is not something that the Stros are accustomed to. They are second in the National League in team average, fourth in home runs, tied for second in runs scored, and second in OPS. This is largely the same team that finished near the bottom in all of those categories in 2005. Though Roy Oswalt continues to prove that he is an ace pitcher, and Brandon Backe has surprised early on, Andy Pettitte has struggled to a 1-2, 6.35 ERA start. Wandy Rodriguez has started off well, but he is a guy who would come out of the bullpen, ideally. Ezequiel Astacio, the Astros emergency starter in the 2005 playoffs, has been downright pathetic in his two appearances, this season. The presence of Clemens allows everyone to shift down a spot in the rotation: Oswalt becomes the #2, Pettitte becomes the #3, Backe becomes a #4, and then the Astros can choose between Rodriguez, Astacio, or Taylor Buchholz for the fifth spot. The rotation goes from being second-best in its own division (behind the Cardinals deep rotation) to becoming the best rotation in the game, simply by adding Clemens. Assuming that the Cardinals turn it on like they are able to do, assuming the Mets continue to play spectacular baseball while the Braves play their normal brand of solid ballthe Astros without Clemens will have a hard time winning even the Wild Card. The offense just is not good enough, and the pitching just is not deep enough.
The possibility still exists, of course, that Clemens will rejoin the Astros in May. That period exists because the Astros did not offer Clemens arbitration. There are other teams, though less realistic, in the mix. The Red Sox have spoken to Clemens, but heres to doubting that you will ever see Clemens back in a Red Sox uniform. It is awfully hard to cross a river when you have burned just about every single bridge that leads back to the other side. The Texas Rangers are also interested and seem more than willing to pay any amount of money required to get Clemens to pitch in Arlington. It is just not evident that Clemens reciprocates those feelings, though pitching for the Rangers would satisfy his requirement of staying close to home. The Yankees have called, as well, but Clemens left the Yankees to return home; it is unlikely that Clemens would leave home to return to the Yankees.
Besides that, Clemens leaving the Astros for any of those teams would leave a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths. Clemens went to Houston to pitch specifically for the Astros. He wanted to be close to his home, close to his family, and able to spend more time away from the game while still competing. In other words, while he was getting paid the highest salary of his career ($18 million in 2005), Clemens was not doing it for the money. The man has made $121 million over the course of his career in salary alone. If he became the latest Yankee hired gun, it would be a disgusting act to many, many people.
No, the only place where Clemens truly fits is in Houston. And though there was some tension about the Astros not waiting on Clemens decision about retirement and not offering him arbitration, it is apparent that Clemens would return to Houston in May after taking the first month of the season off. It would allow Clemens to continue resting, the entire month of April, essentially adding a month onto his stamina and effectiveness in 2006, assuming that he is healed completely (and after a 1-1, 2.08 ERA, 0.81 WHIP in two starts during Marchs World Baseball Classic, it is safe to assume that he is the same old Rocket). For Houston, the equation is simple: Clemens equals another trip deep into the playoffs, while no Clemens might mean no playoffs at all for 2005s National League Champions.
The LOST Season Finale
Feb 22nd
I admit, the second season`s finale of LOST was amazing. I was a bit disappointed from the last episodes but this one absolutely turned my interest back. Finally, something really important happened and we found out some of the Island`s secrets and as it seems we`ll continue to figure them out in the next season.
There`s obviously no sickness on the Island and maybe the sign quarantine on the doors just have to keep the people in the hatches so that they continue to do their job about the experiment of Dharma Project. That doesn`t explain why Russo has killed her friends, thinking they were sick, but probably she just got crazy (which actually doesn`t seem very likely) or maybe there is something more that we still don`t know.
Michael seems to be one of the most stupid characters but I don`t think that this is the end of his appearance. Walt has some paranormal abilities that have to be shown. I think that Michael and Walt either will decide to come back (because of Michael`s consciousness) or won`t be able to find the way and finally the ocean will bring them back to the Island.
About the Others, I don`t think they will hurt Kate, Jack and Sawyer. They will probably use them for their experiments or try to make them a part of their group. Which is more interesting for me is why do the Others hide their identity? Who are they hiding from?! That`s something that I really can`t wait to find out.
2006 NASCAR Preview
Feb 22nd
This speedway phenomena and crowd-sports fascination is an annual specialty racing mass-event, presented by NASCAR, Daytona Beach, Florida in the USA. Typically held in the state of North Carolina at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Concord, N.C., it has become a part of the fabric of not only the local area, but also a National passion and worldwide sporting event of distinction.
It offers one and all – with an insatiable need and appetite for the ultimate in speed and custom wheels racing – some utter satisfaction and the perfect adrenaline rush, on-demand and lap-by-lap!
It remains one of the largest global spectator sports and sports-betting favorite, gaining ground every year. It has however also known some ups and downs in its interwoven, proud and tragic history.
It came rooted in and from humble beginnings in the whiskey bootlegging down South, the ensuing stock-car racing of the early years, to the formal establishment of the national sanctioning body to govern stock racing on December 12, 1947 called NASCAR, the now well-recognized acronym and branding for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.
Its halls of fame also carry shadows and sadness of numerous crashes, accidents and tragic incidents, famous driver deaths and losses that dot its development and sporting landscape. From struggling with and overcoming with triumph, numerous diverse challenges and obstacles like prohibition, the law, world war II, automotive and technological advancement and roller-coaster participation, retraction, interventions, the birth of the HEMI, to tobacco advertising bans, corporate sponsorships partnering, increasing popularity, broadcasting and media coverage, personal and professionals competing on and off-track, increasing hype, droves of timeless champions and recognized fallen heroes, NASCAR and racing has remained a crowd pleaser and favorite.
NASCAR, among other things, also acts as the sanctioning and overseeing body for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. In retrospect, here are some quick-facts about the events and more specifically the 2005 NEXTEL Cup Series. With final races held on Saturday, May 21, 2005, with capacity crowds exceeding organizers expectations and a new champion, everyones eyes are on the pre-season thunder and hopefuls in 2006!
The Nextel Cup Series’ second season, the 57th for NASCAR’s premier division — began in February 2005 at Daytona and ended 35 races later with the Ford 400 at Homestead.
It consisted of 36-races in total, making up the 2005 Nextel Cup Series, including the season-ending 10-race Chase for the Nextel Cup “playoff.” Tony Stewart tops the NASCAR world as the 2005 Nextel Cup Champion.
You might be asking what makes a driver eligible for the Nextel Open and who or what to watch for? Here are some of the general guidelines:
Little has changed in the rules for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series (Open and All-Star Challenge). Eligibility rules for competitor-drivers potentially partaking in the NASCAR
-Nextel Cup Series include:
Drivers and car owners who have won races in the current and preceding year.
In the true spirit of competition, a driver who has left the team under whose banner a race might have been one, remains eligible and the car owner’s new driver can also race (through the last race before The All-Star Race)
Past NASCAR cup champions (past 10 years )
The All-Star Race winners (past 10 years)
The winning driver of the Nextel Open
Drivers who have won in previous years, not eligible by the above (not owners)
If 20 drivers are not eligible, winners from previous seasons still active on the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, become eligible for The All-Star Race. All active drivers during that season become eligible, even if the field exceeds 20 competitors.
It is then easy to see that the entry requirements for NASCAR-banner type events, support standards of excellence and achievement. To qualify for the Nextel Open, drivers must be in the Top 50 of the final NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series [drivers] point standings or in the Top 50 of the current NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series [drivers] point standings as of March 14, 2006. Just because a driver is listed, does not mean they will be participating in the race.
The 2005 NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge, showcased race winners from the previous and current seasons, as well as past event champions and series champions from the past 10 years (1995-2005). All were active drivers and competed in at least one series event during the preceding (2004 or 2005) season. Also eligible was the winner of the NEXTEL Open, a preliminary event for teams not qualified for the all-star event, and one other NEXTEL Open driver, who secures an empowered fan-favorite vote, into full participatory rights and privileges in the all-star event. To qualify for the NEXTEL Open event, drivers must have been in the Top 50 of the final 2004 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings, or in the Top 50 of the current point standings at the time.
The ever-popular NASCAR’s Nextel All-Star Challenge race, is likely to return to Lowe’s Motor Speedway near Charlotte in 2006, but NASCAR is contemplating its future, always with an eye on what tomorrow may bring to the sport in general and the event in particular.
Quoted sources list The Charlotte Observer as reporting that recently a vice president from Nextel, (official sponsors of the NASCARs Cup series as well as the all-star race), said that the company was satisfied with the Charlotte area’s efforts for the race and indicated the event would likely come back in 2006.
NASCAR Vice President Jim Hunter said nothing has been decided about the long term. “Every year, we revisit the idea of moving the all-star race,” he said. The story also lists that the all-star event creates approximately $94 million dollars worth of impact on the region’s economy in travel and tourism dollars spent.(Source: NASCAR Scene Daily Newsletter, 4-7-2005), so it is easily seen that this event is sporting a growing trend, not only in viewer-ship, but also in vested dollars and profits
Exploding Secrets to Breaking Dangerous Icons in Your Art
Feb 22nd
Copyright 2006 Todd Harris
You may be surprised by what I am about to tell you, at least partly. The two lines with the least variation are a perfectly straight line and a circle. A perfectly straight line has obviously no variety at all. But, the circle, you ask? Yes, the circle. A circle curves at exactly the same ratio all along, has no variation of its curvature, it is of all curves the one with the least possible variety. These two lines are, therefore, two of the dullest, and are rarely used in drawings except to enhance the beauty and variety of other lines.
So why is this important to artists? Especially to artists who are drawing the figure? Well, to answer that, lets look back to elementary school. When in grade school, how did you draw a person? Using circles, I dare say! Well, lets investigate this further.
The perfect curve of the circle should always be avoided in the drawing of natural objects (even a full moon or an outline of a head), and in drawings of any kind, some variation should always be used. Always, Always.
Although the curve of the perfect circle is dull from its lack of variety, it is not without beauty, and this is due to its perfect unity. It is of all curves, the most perfect example of static unity. Without the excitement of the slightest variation, it goes on and on forever. This is where the symbol of Eternity comes from and why today we wear circular wedding rings and so forth.
Perhaps the most beautiful symmetrically curved figure of all is the so-called egg. It is an example of perfect balance between variety and unity. The curvature is varied to an infinite degree, at no point is its curving at the same ratio as at any other point; perhaps the maximum amount of variety that can be got in a symmetrical figure, for it approaches the circle in the even flow of its curvature. This is, the line of the contour of a face, and you may note how much artists who have excelled have insisted on it in their portraits.
So, what am I getting at? The point is, sometimes as artists, its easy to fall into traps of the icons. Using a football shape for the eye a circle for the head, are classic examples of this. Variation in line needs to be observed more to provide the individuality of the person when drawing the figure.
To do this, will take some practice and more practice. You will need to turn your paper upside down, sideways, anyway possible to get you out of your head of association. Association meaning habits. Its sometimes hard to break the patterns of icons but can be done.

Sell Air, Become a Millionaire
Feb 22nd
One of the best and easiest ways for someone to make large amounts of money is by selling air! Ok, maybe not literal air, but information. People are starving for information and they are willing to pull out their credit cards for it. Seriously!
Millions of people go on the internet with the intent of finding one thing: information. Some are looking for ways to save money. Some are looking for ways to make money. Others may be looking for weight loss programs, diet information, information on hobbies, and just about anything you can think of.
People want information today. Not tomorrow, not next week, today. Once they find what they are looking for, they pull out their credit cards to gain instant access to what they want to know.
This is GREAT news for you. By simply selling information in an eBook (electronic book) format, you can be on your way to generating MASSIVE wealth.
Ebooks are HOT sellers. There is no inventory to keep, no packaging, and no shipping because they are delivered instantly once you get paid. All you have to do is keep up a website that does the selling and delivery for you. So, if you sell a $47 dollar eBook, for example, all of that money goes straight into your pocket!
Once you set it up, you can basically sit back and relax while you watch the money roll in every day, 24 hours around the clock, without any involvement on your part. In a very short time, you have more money than you can ever imagine piling into your bank account without every having to physically work again! Take a vacation when you want, where you want. Spend more time with your family. Take a 3 month trip on your yacht. Just be sure you have an active internet connection, and you’re set… for life! Now imagine that.

Classical Guitar
Feb 22nd
Although the precise origins of the classical guitar are open to debate, there is plenty of evidence of the existence of similar instruments dating back as early as 5000 years ago. The idea of a hollow body with tensed strings anchored between two points is seen in many instruments, including the violin family, sitar, piano and harp; they all use the strings vibrations to resonate the body and produce sounds. However, because the guitar is fretted, it allows pitch-perfect chords to be played over six strings, which differentiates it from the unfretted (and often bowed) violin family. The guitar as we know it today started to take shape during the Renaissance and Baroque period, when it was used mainly as an accompaniment. Cousins of the guitar are the mandolin, balalaika, banjo and lute. There are enough similarities between these instruments to relate them all, but to give a guitar a unique definition, it would be a six-string, fretted instrument tuned between low E (a thirteenth below Middle C) and the E two octaves above. Of course these are merely the open-string tunings. Notes approaching two octaves above this are achievable through fretting. This tuning allows the guitars whole range to be represented on the treble clef, albeit with three ledger lines for the lowest notes.
The Benefits Of Family Meal Planning
Feb 22nd
Are you ready to save some time, feed your family healthier meals and save some money along the way? These are just some of the benefits of family meal planning. Lets look at all of them in a little more detail.
Eat Healthier
Planning your family meals will cut down on your trips to your favorite fast food restaurant and the amount of pizza you have delivered to your door. Food you prepare at home tends to be much healthier than hamburgers with fries, fried chicken or pizza. When you plan your meals include some lean protein like chicken breast, as well as some salads and vegetables. Your entire family will benefit from the healthier meals.
Save Time
How much time are you spending now running to the grocery store a few times a week. I used to run to the store at least 3 times a week to buy something to fix for dinner. Planning your meals out for a week at a time and then putting together a grocery list with everything you need to cook those meals will cut your trips to the store down to one a week. This alone will save you a few hours each week. Plus you wont be standing in front of your fridge and pantry every night trying to come up with something you can fix with what you have at hand.
Save Money
All that eating out and having food delivered can quickly add up. By preparing more meals at home you will save quite a few dollars each week. In addition, you will save on your monthly grocery bill, since you will be making a list of everything you need for the week and wont end up buying extras that just go to waste. I used to throw out food almost every week before I started meal planning.
Less Stress
You know the routine. Its 6 pm, everyone in the family is starving and you have no idea whats for dinner. Trying to come up with something to cook from what you have in the kitchen while your kids are tired, hungry and screaming isnt one of the most fun family activities. You will be much more relaxed about dinner, when you know exactly what you are going to cook ahead of time and known you have everything you need in the house.
Quality Time Together
Meal Planning also encourages everyone to gather around the dinner table each day. Who could resist the delicious smells coming out of the kitchen? Dinnertime has always been a great time for families to gather and share news and experiences of the day. Parents and children can pay each other undivided attention. Cook some dinner, set the table and dont forget to turn off the TV. Make dinner a daily family tradition again.
I encourage you to give meal planning a try. I am sure you and your family will see the benefits within less than a week.
Dont have the time or patience to plan your family meals? Let us do it for you!
